Sleep Depot

Just finished setting up my first solo exhibition in Johannesburg at David Krut Projects, 142 Jan Smuts avenue Parkwood. The show is titled Sleep Depot.
The title of this show draws on the idea that the founding elements of this exhibiton are picked randomly from older themes and works and reconstituted into a cohesive narrative through a kind of dream logic. Thus the sleep relates to the dreaming part and depot to the store of narratives and figures that i have developed over time.

I haven't updated this blog in ages but i have been busy finishing up my masters and having my first solo exhibition. You can check out the exhibition by going to www.whatiftheworld.com. These are the kind of drawings i have been making for myself lately , these and one more will feature in the new Laugh it off manual. I start each drawing by finding a place i am not familiar with or places that an audience might find unfamiliar, I then construct my own description of a scene that takes place there.

These places range from capitals to blocks of flats.

These are stills from a story i have drawn. the story revolves around a four armed thief whose one arm is withered and useless this defect has forced him outside of his society.
He lives on the fringe and concots dark experiments and finally he gets into trouble for them.

this entry is pretty random and very different to the normal stuff i post.
It's about the day little guy ( a minature doberman ) ran away from me, he came back an hour later
